Scent Detection for Beginners

Service Description

In this fun and engaging 4 week class, you and your dog will learn the exciting sport of Disc Detection! Forget everything you know about traditional scentwork- this is scentwork with a hint of adventure. After your intro course, the progression pathway of Disc Detection will have teams scouring woods, forests, parks, and towns in search of their target. Trials and competitions are available in order to proof your skills. Ribbons and titles are up for grabs for teams who wish to go the extra mile. This is a team sport with a host of benefits for both dog and handler. By the end of the 4 weeks, your dog will: -Learn the skills necessary to identify and search for a target odour -Become confident searching through different surfaces and environments -Strengthen their focus and motivation to learn -Be able to search an area for the target odour -Have fun! You will: -Learn how to set up a search area -Learn to read your dog's body language -Have a solid theoretical foundation to build and develop your skills further The course is held on Saturday mornings in Siding Lane, Rainford, WA11 7SR. Classes run for 1 hour from 10am- 11am. Your dog must be comfortable around other dogs, as this is a group class! Equipment Needed: Comfortable harness Long line High value treats! Wet weather gear if necessary
